Journey with the dulcimer across the ocean 🌍🎶

Matěj Číp is an inspiring example of determination and passion for music. Since his youth, he dreamed of getting into a prestigious music school with his dulcimer, and thanks to hard work, determination and support from foundations, including the Kousek po kousku Foundation, he managed to turn this dream into reality.

After ten intensive months in New York, he successfully completed his master's degree and experienced an unforgettable moment - throwing his graduation cap into the air at the famous Jazz at Lincoln Center. During his stay in the USA, he gave concerts, gave lectures and introduced the Czech dulcimer to prestigious institutions such as The Juilliard School and New York University.

What next? Matěj decided to stay in New York and fully devote himself to his musical projects. He also shares his experiences on YouTube, where he describes his journey, music and cultural experiences.

He didn't even have time to really enjoy his graduation from Berklee in New York and was already packing his bags – first to Canada and then to South Korea. Matěj spent four weeks on an exchange program in Sokcho, a picturesque seaside town not far from the border with North Korea. In addition to studying Korean, he got to know the local culture – from traditional cuisine to Taekwondo to visiting the demilitarized zone.

Studying abroad once again brought him not only new knowledge, but also valuable international friendships. And how did he actually get there? All it took was one phone call from a friend from Korea: "Matěj, summer, Sokcho, sea, mountains, fully funded program. Send in your application." And it was decided!

After this intense experience, he had another stop in Japan, and then a return home to Hodslavice – before he set off again to pursue his musical dreams in the city that never sleeps. 🎶🌍
